So.... sometimes on social media peoples lives look perfect. They post only the most adorable things that their kids say and do and only post pictures where their house is spotless and their kids are in super cute trendy clothes.
I will admit that I am totally guilty of it. But, here's the reality...
Right now, my kids are still in their pj's with unbrushed hair, (and teeth, let's get real) watching the "Fight song" music video on YouTube over and over (its their anthem, ok!).
Yesterday, when these pictures were taken, I had a whole restaurant talking behind my back about what a mean mom I was.
The morning was terrible. They were physically fighting all morning, yelling, not listening to a word I said (or yelled), and telling me straight out "NO!" when I asked them to clean up their mess. I was trying to get my stuff ready for my employees for the weekend, call clients, book gigs etc. They were doing all that they could to make that impossible. I was at my wits end by 11am.
After running some business errands, I took them to lunch at a cute place. In line they were poking each other and whining so loud that people were staring. As I'm paying for our food Landon spills his huge lemonade all over the place (after being told not to play with his cup repeatedly). I scolded him for not listening and explained (sternly) that spilling was why I didn't want him playing with the cup. I got him a refill and we moved tables so they could clean.
Landon then (2 min later) spilled his brand new lemonade all over a lady and her purse!!!! This time I grabbed him, made him apologize and sat him down. I then told he wasn't getting another lemonade. (We had 2 others on the table, the kid wasn't gonna die of thirst) He then proceeded to scream/cry so loud that it hurt my ears and I'm sure everyone else. I told him he couldn't have any macaroon either cause he clearing couldn't listen or behave well in public. I was ready to pack up our food and go.
The ladies at the table he spilled on started whispering about me and how mean I was. I even heard one say that she wanted to confront me. Another lady brought him over a lemonade. (since the 2 on our table weren't enough and his ogre of a mom wouldn't buy him yet another) The whole place thought I was this terribly mean mom when in reality, this lunch was their final straw for the day. I was embarrassed, I was tired, I was overwhelmed!
They then proceeded to not eat their lunches and I lost my appetite from having so many judgey eyes on me.
Of course they got their macaroon, cause I paid $6 freaking bucks for it so I didn't want to waste it. And, to top it off, Landon proceeded to spill the lemonade the lady bought him. (3 lemonades in 1 lunch people...3!)
The moral of this post is that being a Mom is so tough, it can down right suck! People are nosey and will talk about you even though they have no clue what else has been going on.
And the reality is rarely what people post. So, don't ever judge your day to day to their "made up" highlight reel.
Yes, some days I want to pull my hair out and give up . This day definitely wasn't my favorite.( You couldn't tell by the "my life is perfect" pictures though, could you?)
But, I still wouldn't change it for the world. They may drive me crazy but, I love them to the moon and back.
This stunning 40th birthday party in Newport Beach was filled with gorgeous details and beautiful people.
All the women were dressed white in while the men wore tuxedos and suits with bow ties.
Every detail was absolutely perfect and all planned by the birthday girls sister. From the luxurious linens, the agate place cards, to the 3 delicious looking cakes....not a single detail was missing.
The small dinner party was held by candle light while they dined on entrees prepared by the finest chefs.

This past Saturday, I ventured down to San Diego to photograph the cutest little sea side wedding.
Matt is a northern Californian and Danielle is a New Yorker. These two found love when they both moved to San Diego for work.
Simple chic with a touch of vintage charm is the best way to describe their wedding. Danielle wore a tea length antique lace dress with a 9 foot veil. Her adorable blue heels were the perfect accent. Matt wore a sharp blue suit with brown leather wing tips. They both looked like they walked right out of Mad Man.
They wed on the water in San Diego Harbor surrounded by family and a few close friends. Of course, no wedding would be complete with out a bridal party, which was their adorable doberman pincer.
We took full advantage of the beautiful San Diego skyline for their photos not letting the cold and gloom put a damper on their perfect day.

Last weekend I made the drive out to L.A. (something I very rarely do cause L.A. gives me crazy anxiety) to do an engagement session at the Old L.A. Zoo. I totally got lost on the way (I do that every time I go to L.A.) and this sweet couple walked me through, turn by turn by turn, how to get to them.
I had seen photos online of The Old L.A. Zoo but, I have to say that they don't do it justice. It is such a hidden gem in Southern California that even life long natives, like me, still don't know about. It's an easy little hiking trail that walks you right along all of the old animal cages from the 1920's. Now these cages would probably be considered inhumane but, it was so amazing to walk back in time. The concrete enclaves are all covered in graffiti now and many areas are fenced off which gives you a feeling of trespassing even though people are completely allowed there.
Diana and Rob were my sweet couple that I had the pleasure of photographing, Lucky Diana, was gifted several gorgeous wedding dresses from various family members and wore two for our shoot. She exuded grace and elegance which was so stunning against such a harsh backdrop of graffiti and cages. Her handsome fiance Rob looked very dapper and was such a gentleman. These two are madly in love and it shows in every touch, glance and kiss.

When I first staring taking pictures, it was so that I could freeze every moment of my son as a baby. I didn't want to forget a single moment. Now my son is almost 5 and my daughter is almost 3 and I still want to remember every moment. My name is Gillian and I am a hoarder of memories.
Yesterday was a normal day in our house but, I still made sure to document it.
A week ago I met Cora, her 2 adorable children and her mother. They were the sweetest family who were all moving apart from each other due to college and retirement. Luckily I was able to capture some beautiful memories for them that will hopefully always keep them connected.
